The Feet First Medical Practitioner course has been designed and produced by Feet First Foot and Health College as part of our in-house training course leading to the award of a diploma in Medical Foot Health Practice (Dip MFHP) and you will be entitled to use the term Medical Foot Health Practitioner.

We have now been training Foot Health Practitioners for over ten years on a one to one basis ensuring that all our students are not only continuously supported throughout their training but long after their training.

We may not be the biggest Foot Health Practitioner training facility or the longest running. But we do provide the most personal level of training ensuring that all our students are trained to the highest standard possible and are supported throughout their entire Foot Health career.

This course does not lead to State/ HPC registration - which is the only qualification recognised for practice within tha NHS (for this you need to undertake a full time 3 year degree programme at an approved university).

  • What is a Foot Health Practitioner (FHP)?

A FHP is an individual who has completed both theory and practical elements of a course which teaches basic human anatomy & physiology as well as commonly encountered foot problems.

  • What can a Foot Health Practitioner do?

After completing our basic training programme our FHP’s are able to cut nails, manage ingrowing toenails, remove corns and callus, assess diabetic feet and perform vascular and neurological assessments on the foot.

  • Why Become a FHP?

This is a fast-growing profession with continually  increasing demand, so you will always have work and an income. Being your own boss is great, you can choose the hours that you want to work can take as many holidays as you want. But apart from being a great career, being a FHP is very rewarding and you will have the direct satisfaction of helping people in your own community.

  • Are FHP’s the same as Chiropodists/Podiatrists?

No! In order to become a Chiropodist/Podiatrist you must complete a three-year BSc (Hons) degree to legally call yourself a Chiropodist/Podiatrist.

  • What’s the difference between an FHP & Podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a professional, who has expert knowledge of the foot and lower limb and is qualified to provide certain drugs such as antibiotics and Local anaesthesia. He normally has  specialist skills in addition to those of a FHP in order  to perform more invasive treatments such as Nail operations. He will therefore be qualified to administer local anaesthesia and other prescription medicines such as antibiotics. He may also be specialised in a number of other skillsets for example, such as biomechanics and orthoses manufacturing, dermatological disorders, sports injuries and rehabilitation.

  • Are we accredited?

Yes, we are accredited by CPD UK which is one of the largest and leading accreditors within the UK -  https://cpduk.co.uk/

  • What is accreditation?

Accreditation is a process whereby an external independent body checks the  elements of our course and how we deliver them to members of the public.

They Ensure that we deliver the contents of our course in a professional manner and that our students achieve the desired learning outcome to equip them with the skills and knowledge that they will need in their new profession.

  • Do I need Insurance?

Yes, you must have insurance to practice, we can organise this for you and only costs £20 per month.

  • Why train with us?

Firstly, if you do our course all your training is done with a state registered Podiatrist. You get the best knowledge in this subject area available to you on a one to one basis. There is no other training facility to our knowledge that offers this. This is crucial for having the skill set required to be successful and safe in your future business.

We have a Feet First Foot Health Practitioner Community. This is a great community filled with similar minded people where at the click of a button on your smart phone you can share an experience, ask for advice or voice concerns about something you may have seen in your practice or when on home visits.
